There I was waving my gigantic 5'x3' Lion and Sun flag and shouting "Death to Khamenei"

It is not the Shah's flag.

The symbol of the Lion and Sun is an ancient Iranian symbol that goes back centuries. It is not attached to any particular Shah, least of all the Pahlavis.

As you can see the Lion and Sun has been used in the flag of Iran since at least the 16th century. It is a universal symbol of Iran, unlike the current Arabo-Islamified flag, which is a symbol of dictatorship and oppression.
