I dunno, man. We seem to come from a different background or something. Let me just end it with this post as I can see no point in dragging this discussion further - these are two different perspectives that don't intertwine anywhere, anyhow.

Besides that, I wouldn't get a car even out of my own money, just for the sake of "commuting to uni". Not in London. Considering you live out of the congestion zone, it's quite far away from uni (apparently not far enough to guarantee you accommodation, though ). London is a horrible place to commute by cars - and I can pretty much guarantee you a roulette every morning and trying to outfight the time, not mentioning coming late for lectures and - probably - being pretty pissed off because of that.

If I were you, I'd have made a safe bet. Oyster card, Young Person's Railcard, trains that don't use streets and underground that runs independently. Maybe a bit more annoying to use, but in all likelihood transporting you faster, even considering the ongoing and ubiquitous signal failures/people falling ill on the trains/suicides on the railway and other delay-inducing factors.

But yeah, as I've said, the decision is up to you, so whatever you do just have fun doing this

I have no intentions of traveling to lectures by car. For that I will obviously use train. However considering I will spend about 4 hours a week at lectures, then I will spend most of my time where I live. For that reason I need a car as I don't want to be catching bus which I also have to pay for or relying on friends to pick me up. I know the consequences, and I know inevitably I will have to pay it back. For that reason I should be allowed to do whatever I like, wether it be buy a car or take the £4k and blow it all one night in a casino. I do appreciate your thoughts and I have thought about it for a long time so I will continue with the purchase of a car. Take it easy...

Yes, one across the road from Stepney Green station if I remember correctly; I pass it on my regular hunt for baklawa.

I think the Golden Fryer might serve fish, and they definitely serve chips.

I know, that's why it wouldn't let me!

Term starting is about a month away.

Siblings back at school. Mother back at work. Now, just to get rid of the stepfather - bloody shift workers!

It starts in 24 days (if you exclude freshers). So not that far! Lol, can't ignore him being there or is he that annoying? I think I'll be camping in the library more as my gran comes back in September/October, I am not amused by this. :sigh:

I was goign to ask about the dreaded granny the other day actually. Hah, lots of traditional foods for you eh?:awesome:

Be clever, and book a trip to India to coincide with her being here.:p:

Oh, I just like an empty house so I can walk around in my natural state.:ninja: He's not particularly annoying, but he forces clothes on me, or rather, my decency forces clothes on me on his account. That and he often brings people here unannounced and doesn't have the good sense to ask them to take off their shoes where everyone else does. I mean WTH? Why would you think it's okay to walk your shoes all over cream carpet? I had better not rant.:p:

I know, she tries to make me eat stuff like that in the morning and I'm like "arhh I got uni" when I don't just to avoid it.

Hmm going to India, where they play loud music at 5am, have power cuts at 12-2pm and massive cockroaches... I think I'll pass. Though it was funny when a bat hit my mum on the head, I was laughing so much that I cried and everyone was staring and thinking I was either nuts/stupid. :\

Lol, too much info! And cream carpet, that's just asking to get messy!

Laminated floors ftw!
