no alphabet prioritising?

And what's nomencrature:confused:

I'd do the first one (bromo then methyl) i don't know whether that's 100% correct due to the alphabet, or just because it sounds right.

nomencrature was a typo :P
THanks again. One more I dont get. CH2FCH2CH2CHBrCH3

So is this 2-bromo-5-fluoropentane or is it 1-fluoro-4-bromopentane?
"The substituents are listed alphabetically in the final name."

So, it's bromo then methyl.
It is bromo then fluoro alphabetically, but the lowest possible numbers are used.
4-bromo-1-fluoropentane is correct. xx

Going by the rule i just stated, it'd be 2-bromo, 5-fluoro..... but i have a sneaking suspiction it's the other one... don't ask me why, but when i drew it out, i automatically went to call it 1-fluoro...
We'll see what anyone else says :p:
