Personally I never really did that much work (just revised for the vocab tests and did a good few practice papers) and got a 9 (I was edexcel though) so I wouldn't say it's too difficult. Although I'm no language expert lol - I think that as long as you are consistent with it, then you should be alright for an 8/9
