Veterinary Nursing Advice

Hey! So I've come on here as I need some advice on how to get into veterinary nursing.

I've worked in the NHS for years and I've had enough -I'm ready to try something new.

I already volunteer in a animal rescue centre and do some casual work as a trainee dog trainer so I have some animal care experience. Im just wanting to know how people even got onto doing their apprenticeship as it seems impossible to find any placements! And I got turned away from uni as they said it's apprenticeship only now.

Is it better to try volunteer at a veterinary practice first and then apply for jobs as an animal care assistant first? Is that how people get onto the apprenticeships?

I'm also worried that my age is going against me a little bit here as I'd be a mature student now.

Any help/advice would be awesome. Im so lost and there's hardly any information on how to get started.

Thanks!
