Health informatics and data science ANY experiences???

Would love to hear from people that have done Health informatics and data science at university.

What was your experience? What were your job prospects upon completing the degree?

THANK YOU

I haven't studied this at university but if you are interested in working in the NHS consider the following schemes:

https://graduates.nhs.uk/
NHS Graduate Management Training has an informatics stream.

https://nshcs.hee.nhs.uk/programmes/stp/
Science Training Program also has Bioinformatics (Informatics) stream

Hope that helps

I am interested in potential careers. I already have an undergrad degree with some data experience. So I have been considering to a similar masters/PhD

Same. I did psychology, but did some data analysis stuff during my degree so that’s what I want to go into

If you are considering a MRes/Ph.D. The deadline has passed for this year but for next year I recommend applying to Wellcome Trust Health Data in Practice.

The NHS grad management scheme deadline has passed but the STP has about a week left. so consider applying especially if you already have a degree

If you aren't aware the STP is a very competitive scheme where many students (including international) apply. You get to work with the NHS as a clinical scientist at Band 6 for 3 years at a stream of your choice (I.e clinical biochem/ Microbiology/ cancer genomics / immunology / informatic) whilst also completing a fully funded part-time master's degree.

I was recently rejected by St Andrews for a masters course that I had applied to, but they have offered me an alternative course to consider for admission. It is the MSc in Health Data Science course, and I do not have much knowledge about the course or the career prospects after completing it.
It would be really helpful if anybody could please let me know about the course with regard to the course structure, exposure, employability, etc.

I recently came across this thread and I pretty much have the same questions and doubts as @Wooord! .
I would really love to connect with people who are already in this course or who have applied for it this year.
