uni choice

i currently do Alevels in maths, chemistry and computer science. i know i really want to go to university and do a health science e.g pharmacy.
but i also want to do something computer science based but im unsure what to decide between. i’ve been to open evenings and both have stood out to me what should i do ?
look into how the courses are structured, e.g pharmacy is 4 years and they have a national ranking system which is tricky. really it depends on what you want to do as a job in the future

Hey there @shuhrram !
Why don't you do a course in pharmacy and then join a computer science based society in your spare time? That way you could do both. Since computer science sounds like the most creative out of the two then that could be a good thing to do in your spare time whilst also getting the pharmaceutical experience and the degree as well. Then, at the end of your time at university let's say you decide you're leaning more towards computer science you can at least say you have some experience doing it and it can go on your CV. There's no reason you can't give both a go

Hope this helped!

Hey @shuhrram, how are you?

It's great that you have multiple interests and are considering different paths for your university education.

Consider the career prospects and opportunities in both areas, so the demand for professionals in the field, salary potential, opportunities for growth. Think about which field aligns better with your long-term career aspirations and the impact you want to make.

Can you chat to an academic advisor or career counsellor at your school or potential universities? They'd be able to provide lots of useful guidance and support in exploring your options, understanding the requirements and expectations of each field, and help you align your interests with suitable programmes.

I wish you the best of luck in making your decision, remember it's down to you and should be your personal decision. Just take time to thoroughly research and reflect on your interests, goals, and long-term aspirations. It's great you've already been to some open days, could you contact the academics for more information and help from them, and ask them to put you in touch with current students on the course? You could also chat to some current students directly online by using unibuddy!

It doesnt matter which Uni you go to to do Pharmacy - all UK courses ae accredited as equal by the GPhC and the NHS will always need more Pharmacists - they are not going to ask 'which Uni'.
