University of Exeter or Sheffield for Modern Languages???

Hi All. I am interested in studying Modern Languages at uni doing French and German from post a-level/ib-level and taking Russian ab-initio. I am looking at either Exeter or Sheffield uni. I am particularly interested in taking optional modules involving history. I was wondering if anybody has visited the languages departments or experienced studying Modern Languages at either of these universities and let me know their experience and recommendations as to which is better given my subject choices and interests.
