If you're not playing games or doing something else that is incredibly intensive like huge amounts of high-quality photo/video editing, then 16GB RAM is likely to be overkill - 8GB is going to be absolutely fine for years to come, and honestly this might only be a marginal performance upgrade over 4GB. If your laptop is basically going to be a homework/internet machine, perhaps something along the lines of the HP 15s-eq2517na would do the trick, if you're flexible about the touchscreen, or HP Pavilion 15-eh2500sa, if not?

Are you sure you want a 15.6" laptop? Especially if you're going to uni in due course and will be carrying it around campus or on public transport?
15.6" are fine if the laptop will be transported by car and taken from the car park to the nearest building.

HP 830's are 13.3" laptops.

Are you sure you want touchscreen?
I personally find it annoying to have fingerprints all over my screen.

Are you OK buying used off ebay, for far better value for money than buying new?
