How to make daal

My yellow daal is simple (I use a pressure as its just quicker and easier):
Add oil & cumin seeds to pressure cooker, let seeds crackle on the heat
Add spices & aromatics (usually tumeric, cumin, garlic, ginger - or whatever I have in my cupboard tbh), let them cook and once they don't smell raw add tomatoes
Add daal (optional - soak the daal in water for 30 mins before cooking)
Add water (1 part daal / 3.5 part water)
Put lid on pressure cooker and let it go for 3 whistles.
Turn heat to lowest and simmer for 10 mins
Turn off heat and let the steam release.
Take lid off and you're done (simmer for thicker consistency if needed)
