Hey! Hey! Hey! :danceboy:

I'm Dennis and I am a 3rd year Air Transport Management PhD student. I am from the beautiful twin island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis which is smack in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. I am currently the president of the DMU Caribbean Society, play American Football, an avid gym goer :dumbells: and I've been a DMU ambassador for 3 1/2 years . The university journey is quite nerve-racking at first but it's an enjoyable one filled with loads of memories. I look forward to your questions, concerns or even emotional outburst :giggle: about university life. Feel free to chat with me via The Ambassador Platform here.

All the best!

Heyyy everybody,

I am Tianna and I am a 3rd Year Psychology Student. I am from a town in Warwickshire so I am not too far away from Leicester but I do live on campus! I am part of the DMU Psychology Society and i really enjoy going to the events on a Wednesday evening. I love reading books, travelling, photography and going to the theatre to watch musical theatre. I started my journey as an ambassador for DMU last year (2022) and I have had the best experience working with a lovely team of people. When I first started University back in 2020 I was a very nervous and shy individual but I have come so far in the past 3 years, I feel as if back then I wouldn't of been confident enough to be part of the ambassador team. I have made so many amazing memories at DMU, one of my highlights has been going to Paris and also meeting lots of lovely new friends therefore you are bound to have a wonderful time at University. I can't wait to answer some of your questions!

Best Wishes,
Tianna
Hi everyone!

I am Ilya. A Cyber Security international student from Belarus!
I moved to the UK to study few years ago and now I live in a student accommodation in a wonderfull city of Leicester! So, if you have any questions about student halls, I will be more than happy to chat with you.
Also, I am an absolute fan of IT. I do enjoy learning about new technologies and currently my specialisation is generative AI and using AI technologies for boosting productivity in the workplace.
I've gone through the process of applying to DMU as an international student, so I know how stressful it might be. If you ever need any support or a helping hand - do reach out to me and I will do my best to provide you as much support as I can
Overall, never hesitate to ask and engage.

Take care,
- Ilya :woo:
Hi everyone,

I just wanted to tell you more about what this thread is for, as there are not much going on currently.

In a nutshell, this thread is designed to serve as an informal chatting space with ambassadors like me and other wonderful members of our team

If you have any questions (they are not all supposed to be formal or official. For example you can ask us about nightlife in Leicester and where to go on Friday's evening), we are more than happy to engage in a conversation with you

Take care and feel free to send us a message

Hiya everyone! :hello:

My name is Julia, and I am a second-year Psychology student at DMU. I come from Poland, but I moved to the United Kingdom two years ago to continue my higher education and have more developmental opportunities. Apart from studying at De Montfort, I am also a student ambassador and I have recently completed an internship in the Psychology of Language there. I am an enthusiast of being a student as I realised this is a one-of-a-kind experience and the best school of life :crown: Making the most of this time is not my only hobby :gthumb: I love reading books and travelling. And that is why I am going on a student exchange to Spain in the next academic year!

Therefore, if you want to know more about being an international student, employment and abroad opportunities at DMU, psychology courses, transition into university, or anything else, do not hesitate to ask me here or use The Ambassador Platform to chat with me! :five:

I am looking forward to hearing from you :rofl3:

Take care,
Julia
Hi All, :hello:

It’s Zakiyah here! I am a third year Fashion Communication and Styling Student! Here at fashion comms at DMU we are a very fun and energetic:dancing: course filled with different creative modules and opportunities such as working with fashion brands a part of live briefs and also exciting experiences such as taking part in London & Graduate Fashion week! I am a course rep for studying fashion as well as a student faculty ambassador so it’s all things art and design here!:h: I Love photography, reading visiting exhibitions and most of all travelling! As my love for travel is infinite looking soo forward to being a part of DMU Global’s Trip to Spain this summer!!:excited:

It’s been an incredible 3 years here at the university and as I am almost nearing the end of my journey here at DMU (feels very bittersweet if i do say so myself) I’ve been at the uni and experienced all the great possibilities they offer! If there is any questions you have about studying a creative course or about applying for one because i know it can sometimes be a little daunting especially the portfolio proces, I’m here to chat & help ease those doubts away! You can also come along to the ambassador platform to chat to me there!

Looking forward to it!

Hey Everybody:smile:,

I am Emily a Third year student nurse here at DMU, my chosen field of practice is adult nursing. At DMU we have 4 fields of practice within Nursing. They include: Adult, Child, Mental Health and Learning disability. I have loved every second of my studies here at DMU; while nursing is a hard course, you meet amazing friends and lectures which will support you along the journey of becoming a registered nurse! Although the course is a three year programme it feels like I've blinked and I am a third year. So make the most of this fantastic experience:groovy:

Nursing is built up of 50/50 academic work and placement, so you get to learn the knowledge & then go out on placement to practice everything you have learnt in university. There is always so much support whether you're in uni or on placement. Plus, whilst on placement I have become friends with some amazing people, including students in other years, where we have shared knowledge to progress our learning further. :smartass:

Apart from Nursing, Iam a student ambassador here at DMU so I get the amazing opportunity to work open days and support students looking to join DMU! I am also massively into music! Concerts are my joy whilst being at DMU & I have been to over 25 concerts and my first year was during a global pandemic - one of my best memories was when me and 3 of my uni friends jumped in the car, planned the night before, to see Ed Sheeran in Cardiff.

If you have any questions regarding DMU, Nursing, student life or anything else please feel free to message and we can support.

All the best
Emily :nurse:

Hello again all!

Happy Halloween, Samhain, Autumn, and Pumpkin Season!:jacko:

For anyone that may not have yet got around to thinking about University or UCAS just yet, or perhaps you're unsure if it is for you:confused:, here's a space to ask all of those questions!

If you are still popping your application together, perhaps you've just started with us and are a bit overwhelmed, or you're thinking about the future or postgraduate applications, remember: there are plenty of resources available here on TSR that are helpful, step-by-step, and informative from the experts to guide you.

This includes advice from the pros - including our current students - on everything, from the current student experience [you can #AskMeAnything ], help and support on how to go about applying to Uni, then to Student Finance and our DMU Global Opportunities! :smartass:

If you have also recently started with us here at DMU then feel free to drop us a line!
How are you finding it? Have you recovered from the excitement of Freshers yet? What are your Halloween costumes:jacko: or plans with flatmates? :iiam:

As always we are here to help :jive:
