A Level History - Breadth Essay

Hi!

When doing questions that ask you to cover the whole (or most) of the period, I struggle to know how to structure my answer. For example, I do the USSR and it can be hard to fit everything into the Intro, Three middle para, conclusion structure without missing a big chunk of the period. I worry that writing 4 paragraphs means there's a lack of balance between the 2 sides.

Any advice?

Hello
Structuring breadth questions are admittedly the hardest, but can be made much easier to cover the main parts of the period if you try and find topics which can consist of various events/acts underneath
Also, doing 4 paragraphs would be much more beneficial where in most cases, you can make a balanced argument by having two for and two against imo - it also helps covering the long period
You also might need to learn to be slightly vague and focus more on the impacts of certain things in order to fit everything into a very strictly timed essay
Good luck!
