Missed accommodation deadline

I’ve got an unconditional offer for Newcastle uni but I missed the accommodation deadline and I’m really really stressed about it. Wanted to live in Marris House or Park View but I’ve been working so much this summer and I broke my computer and I didn’t realise till it was too late :frown: I’ve applied late but I’ve got no guarantee of a place and they’re not going to consider my application till the 31st of august. Hoping anyone can help me with what to do or maybe has an offer of accommodation in uni-owned accom that they no longer want that I could somehow take over?? Pls help

Honestly, don't worry about it. I do know that you're on a wait list, but keep searching for private accoms as they're not the worst either and do have certain benefits (laundry maybe included, can be a little cheaper) and are much closer to the city compared to marris or park view. Lmk if you need any other details

Heya,
Yeah I did the late application thing and they had me put in my top three.
basically if you want to live somewhere really popular it’s not gonna happen but if not you’ve got a good chance.
They ended up putting me in Castle Leazes🤢 which tbf was not ideal the people were generally a bit grim so my first week I was like ahhh what have I done😭 But I did end up finding some good people that hated it as much as me that lived in different flats, and I made most of my friends on my course and at societies. Thankfully they’re knocking Castle Leazes down so you wont be put there.
What will likely happen is they’ll offer you a place in the *****est halls now Leazes is gone, but honestly all the other halls seemed like pretty good vibes so I wouldn’t worry too much. As a backup I would join Newcastle student groups on Facebook as people advertise spare rooms in their student houses a lot as people they signed with have dropped out or whatever. As long as the room looks nice and the people advertising it seem alright it’ll be nice and fun, also living with second years can be helpful cos they know all the best places to go out already and stuff like that so it’s a good fallback.
The uni might also have some houses (really close like on campus basically) that they put first years in now there are less places in halls cos of knocking down Leazes. Happened to a few of my friends in Leeds and honestly they just got nicer rooms than everyone else so that’s def wouldn’t be the end of the world.
Anyway good luck!!! Hope you have a great year and find somewhere good to live
And really don’t stress living in a shithole is a great bonding experience
