Top Tips on Finding Energy Providers for Students

Searching for the right energy provider amidst the rising living costs as a student can be daunting, especially when it is your first time renting! Here are some energy providers that you might want to check out before making a decision!

Before starting your research, here are some things you should discuss with your housemates:

1.

What is your monthly budget?

2.

How much energy do you usually spend?

3.

How would you split the bills?

Asking yourselves these questions can be crucial in helping you make a decision on what kind of energy provider you would choose. :colondollar:

Utility Warehouse
Utility Warehouse(UW) is known to offer one of the more affordable energy package deals suitable for students. In addition to energy, UW offers a package deal with broadband, mobile plan and insurance! If you choose to add all four services into your plan, you can get a lower quote for your energy bill. However do note that the prices are dependent on your energy consumption and are not fixed.

Octopus Energy
Similar to UW octopus energy offers variable tariffs that are dependent on usage and is almost one of the more affordable energy providers.

Fuse
Popular among students for its fixed unlimited plan, Fuse bills allows you to use as much energy and water you want to your heart's content all for a fixed monthly price of about £92 a month. Additionally, Fuse calculates and charges each housemate individually for the month, so instead of having one person always calculating the bills, you can just pay for your own individual share directly! I would highly recommend Fuse if you like taking long hot showers in the winter, leaving your heating on, and if it is within your budget!

Uswitch
Alternatively you can use platforms like Uswitch to compare cheaper energy provider options on the market. Upon entering your postal code, Uswitch gives you the current energy providers and energy usage for the property while also recommending a cheaper energy provider alternative!

All in all, which energy provider you use is dependent on what's available in your region, so be sure to ask around to find out what is the best for your area! :h:

What kind of energy providers do you use? Do you know of any other student friendly energy providers? Feel free to share them down in the comments below and I hope this short write up helps!
