L6 architecture apprenticeship

Hi!! I'm planning on doing an apprenticeship either through Portsmouth or LSBU. How do I make the applications? The sites aren't incredibly user-friendly and it can be difficult to navigate for more information.

Are there any apprentices here who have previously applied for these apprenticeships? What was the application process like and when do I start applying if I want to start around September 2024?

Have you been thinking that you apply to the Universities? That's not how an apprenticeship works. You need to look for and apply to employers who want to recruit apprentices.

Hi, that's how some apprenticeships work, but not all

Well ok but it's how the vast majority work.

If these are the sort of things you are looking for then you need to apply through an existing employer or find yourself a new employer that has apprenticeship vacancies.

Here you go.
"I'm looking for a job with a Degree Apprenticeship role
If you're not in full-time employment, or your current employer is not interested in degree apprenticeships, you'll need to find a role that does offer a degree apprenticeship. You can search the gov.uk list of open degree apprenticeship vacancies, or contact us with your details and we'll let you know when degree apprenticeship vacancies come up.
When you apply for a role that includes one of our degree apprenticeships, you'll follow the company's standard recruitment process for the job, while we assess your academic suitability for the course."

So reading between the lines some of the companies they partner with may let the university know they have vacancies. The uni says they will let you know but you will still really be applying to the company who will be the future employer. But I wouldn't hang my hat on this. These circumstances may be rare. I really think you should be keeping an eye on vacancies which will be advertised via these kind of sites.

It's great that you have such a good idea of what you want to do. A degree apprenticeship is a great option. But maybe you might want to consider full time uni as a plan B.
