I want to study English Lit and Film and I’m currently wondering how to go about my personal statement. Can I reference any films that inspired me to study Film Studies or is that too out there?

I want to study English Lit and Film and I’m currently wondering how to go about my personal statement. Can I reference any films that inspired me to study Film Studies or is that too out there?
You could talk about the relationship between a text and a film, perhaps find two examples - one where a film closely matches the text and one where the film deviates wildly from the plot of the book on which it is based. That could be one avenue to explore.
