Car insurance living in Uni accommodation

I've seen people say you need to change your address on your car insurance if you live in halls. I looked at doing this but it increased my insurance a lot.
I then looked at keeping my home address the same but changing my occupation to "student - living away" and choosing the option of my car not being parked at my address at night and kept on private property (if I'm correct in assuming that uni car parks are private property) and my insurance still increases but by a lot less than if I was to change my address to my uni address.

Would doing it the second way be accurate? as then I wouldn't have to change my address again when I'm not living in halls during the summer, just my occupation and place of parking, and it would be cheaper.
