Anyone know a lot about apprenticeships?!??!

Hi,

I'm going to make this very simple.
I am in my second year of A Levels and after college I am thinking of doing a level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship. So coz I have no clue where I'm even meant to look I started looking at Indeed and I came across one where it said it was remote. I was confused so I went on the website and inquired about it. I was then emailed by one of the heads of a department who said yes it was fully remote and that there was only 2 days of the course a week and that the classes would be via Zoom. So I was like great okay so what are the entry requirements and he goes well you have to be employed. I was like what does that mean and he goes I have to be working in a similar role to the apprenticeship I want to do. Even to this day I'm still confused.. like how do I even find an employer?

BTW the name of the company is Althaus Digital and the reviews are clean 👌

If anyone gets back to me I will appreciate it so much

Edit: I found out after contacting the national careers service that it was a training provider.

Hi there. You will need to look for an apprenticeship with an employer. They will pay you a basic wage to work for them while undertaking your apprenticeship. Normally you would work for them 4 days per week with an additional college day. The work experience will provide the evidence that you need to submit for your apprenticeship. The college will only provide the educational elements, and it is up to the employer to assist you in gaining the practical experience. Both are needed to complete the course.

I am assuming that the apprenticeship that you found on Indeed will require you to apply and be successful at interview to be given the position. Often (but not always) the employer who takes you on as an apprentice would look to offer you a full time role once you complete the course.

You can look for apprentice opportunities on job sites, ask your local college if they have any contacts, or look at the Government website for opportunities. https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship

Thanks so much for your reply,

So let's say I find an employer and I gain the relevant experience needed. Then do I contact the training provider? And then they take me on?

Sorry if I'm asking silly questions but I am genuinely new to all this and need help

Normally an employer would have arranged with a training provider to offer the course as part of them taking on an apprentice. I know where I work we will arrange that prior to advertising the position. It would be an apprenticeship that you would apply for with the employer (not directly with the course provider). Have a look at the link I included to the Government apprenticeship site. Hopefully that will give you more information. Apprenticeship salaries are normally very low, unfortunately. This is to compensate the employer for assisting with your training and mentoring throughout your course.

Basically, an apprenticeship is a trainee position with a company. They employ you and agree to train you on the job and also provide you with day release to undertake the classroom elements of the training with an approved training provider that they should arrange for you.

Looking at the website link I provided, below is an example of one of the employers that is looking for an apprentice in your area of interest. It will give you some idea of what is on offer. You would have to apply for this position in the same way that you would apply for any other job.

What type of apprenticeship are you looking for and I can help you further ? I would advise websites such as
- https://www.ratemyapprenticeship.co.uk
- UCAS have also launched a NEW apprenticeship finder on their website this week note you can't apply for apprenticeships on their website you have to apply through the employers career page !

Hi ,
I've found this apprenticeship with a quick google search https://www.getmyfirstjob.co.uk/search/details/78630/1/advanced-apprenticeship/social-media-and-digital-marketing/middlesbrough/digital-marketing-apprentice. Don't be put off by the low salary offered by any apprenticeship as this often increases each year if not sooner! Besides you are getting a qualification at the same time !
