Help with personal statement for two different courses

I'm in the process of writing my personal statement, and I'm interested in applying to the general engineering course for Sheffield Uni, but for my other options I'm interested in applying to mechanical engineering courses. I was wondering if its possible to submit different versions of my personal statement to different Unis, or do I need to make a general version that suites both courses?
Hi Luca,

When applying through UCAS, you can only submit one version of your personal statement that will be sent to all the universities you apply to. It needs to be a general version that suits all your course choices. Tailor it to encompass your overall interest in engineering, highlighting your passion, skills, and experiences relevant to the field, so it appeals to all the courses you're applying for.

Good Luck!

Please DON’T follow the advice above. If most of your choices are for mecheng then your PS should normally be focused on MechEng. A generic engineering PS will often not be acceptable or competitive for mecheng degrees.

Give the general engineering university a ring (pick up the phone don’t email) and ask them if they’ll be happy with a mecheng PS for their general engineering degree. I’m assuming that university doesn’t offer a mecheng degree from scratch but that you have the option to specialise in later years?
