Mcgill vs Queens university STUDENT LIFE

I have to choose between going to mcgill or queens for either engineering or physics (for both schools), I LOVE SOCIALISING, but i want better overall university expereince.

I've heard that queens has a very close knit community, but Mcgill is in an awesome city.
I'm from Toronto and Enjoy the city but i really like the idea of meeting new people at queens and being in such a close knit community, on the other hand mcgill sounds like a whole new experience in a new city.

I just want to know if its hard to meet new people in a city like MTL ? Ive heard UofT is a bad socializing school since its in a city.

as a mcgill first-year student, here's my take:

firstly, are you canadian and grew up in the UK or...? uoft isn't known for its social scene, but that's not to say that some people don't enjoy it - however i wouldn't recommend it if ur main priority is to socialize. i go to mcgill and the social scene here is honestly great. go to frosh (canadian freshers week only its so much better), stay in a residence, attend classes/clubs and you'll make SO many friends. montreal is an absolutely beautiful city with so much to do, and even tho its a "city" its not THAT big so it doesn't feel too overwhelming, however it's exciting enough to never feel bored. it's also known to be a student city because of the amount of students that live here and i can confirm as someone that goes to mcgill - it's really accommodating. because mcgill has such a good reputation academically, its known as a "work hard play hard" school, so you can most definitely enjoy the social scene that mcgill has to offer if you put yourself out there.

queens on the other hand is less prestigious than mcgill however its known to be one of the biggest party schools in canada, along with western. the social life there is, from what i've heard, really nice and its more of a tight-knit community because kingston is a college town. it does however have a weaker reputation than mcgill so it's up for you to decide...at mcgill you can get a good social life and a prestigious education however you might find that a college town is more suitable for you. although many people love mcgill, and montreal is great for students - it is a city uni at the end of the day, and if you don't play ur cards right it CAN feel isolating, however you did mention that you love to socialize so you shouldn't find it difficult to make friends or meet new people.

im not sure if you're already in canada but id suggest doing a campus tour for both when the weather gets better so you can see the campuses for yourself and get a feel on what its like to go there. this might sound silly but id also suggest searching mcgill and queens on tiktok so you can get a better glimpse into the student life there. also reddit would be a good place to ask this question as well. good luck! feel free to ask any questions.
