Question

Can someone help with where to start on this question?

A planar electrode has positive charge density σ per unit area on each face and is dipped into a dilute solution of an electrolyte. The electric field vector is
E = σexp(-κx)/ε * (unit vector x)

where x is the distance from the electrode and κ is a constant.

Find an expression for the work done in bringing a singly charged cation from infinity to the surface of the electrode (x = 0), and hence the potential of the electrode.

Use fact V = - integral of E from infinity to 0 with respect to x then multiply by charge of cation (+e) to get work done
