Acronyms and numbers in personal statement

I have written my economics personal statement but used acronyms like RCTs and written numbers in digit form. Should I write them out in full.

I was always taught that a single digit number should be a word (e.g. nine) but a two-digit number and above should be written using numerals (e.g. 10).

I'm terms of abbreviations, if they'd be obvious to the intended audience, then just use them. (Nobody ever uses the abbreviations GCSE or BTEC in their full form, for example.) If it's non-obvious then use it in full form (with abbreviation in brackets) and then the abbreviation thereafter.

Do you have space to do this?
