To what extent is physical contact a meaningful sign?

When you're sat next to a girl in class and she's making frequent physical contact like sitting so close to you that you're touching arms/shoulders even though there's enough space on her side of the desk, legs touching under the table (especially when facing each other or leaning in to each other), and hands touching/lingering when flicking pages.

Obviously, there is other signs to be considered too but everyone seems to differ on what signs are bs and what actually mean something but there is always a mention of physical contact or proximity.

What do you guys think?
