How do people afford to do an MBA?

Most university MBA fees seem to be like 40k, how do people afford to do one? Such as LSE, UCL, KCL.

Given MBAs typically require multiple years of experience, most of those in top MBA courses work in high earning fields (e.g. banking/finance/consulting) and save. Then the fees aren't such a large proportion of your income. Alternatively, some employers offer the chance of MBA funding as a perk and a way to tie you into staying at the firm for an extra couple of years.

Although none of the unis you mentioned really run proper MBA courses. Some offer executive MBAs but these are a bit different. If you're wanting to do a top UK MBA then you should really be looking at the likes of LBS/Oxford/Cambridge/Imperial.
