Why University of York MBA is not accredited?

Hi all,

I am aware that the University of York is a prestigious and RG uni, but not sure why the MBA programme doesn't have any accreditations. Any thoughts?

Bump - I also struggle to find any reviews online about the MBA specifically. Could someone share please their experience?

Looks like a cheap online course from a university with a decent overall reputation. Not a well known MBA course though. My guess is that they keep costs down by not paying for accreditation.

York is definitely prestigious but the MBA not so much. Happy to chat more in DM, maybe you could apply to a more ambitious program?

Can someone suggest me shall I proceed with MBA at University of York, distance learning. Fees is around 13,000 GBP but MBA is not accredited. However University Ranking is good.

2nd option is shall I proceed with MSc Marketing at University of Glasgow, distance learning and it is triple accredited, fees is 15,000 GBP. Adam smith business school has high ranking.

I'm currently in the programme and in my second year. It's incredibly flexible for working students, and it's well priced. However, the modules are riddled with quality issues, inconsistency in lecturer engagement, and there appears to be a tone deaf approach to student relations. Recruitment can be keen to overpromise over a call so that there's nothing in writing. The state of operations makes me feel as if I'm part of a pilot cohort who is trying out an MBA programme that hasn't fully launched yet.

It's regrettable as the programme started off well, but issues have been increasing common over the past year. Several members of my cohort have been quite disappointed but have chosen to continue as it can be difficult to transfer credits to another university MBA programme.

I'm not bitter due to low grades; my average is trending towards graduating with a distinction. However, if I had to do this over again, I would've gone with a different university, hence my reason for posting in depth to warn others.

Hi @Lampost88 As someone with double digits of work experience, I am considering MBA and considering York, Sunderland and Quantic.

Putting costs aside, I am torn deciding if Russell group for York , CMI accreditation for Sunderland, or Modern education system for Quantic matters

I had done my Bachelors from an Indian university, and having a proper UK University badge is something I was hoping to get. Quantic is a curve ball, but reviews apart - its still a private institution. I am sure you would have dome some research before opting in to York. Your advice will be appreciated. DM me if you want to talk freely.

I got accepted to Sunderland, York and Hull.

At first I felt York is the one ... but after I learned about lack of accreditation I went with Hull.

Hi,

I've looked at Hull's online MBA, how are you finding it?
