Did Winston and Julia really love each other? Or was their relationship just based on rebellion?

A bit of both I think. The concept of love alone being part of the rebellion. WInston felt far differently for Julia than he ever did for his wife but was also a coward. I suspect Julia was more miltant in the concept of love being rebellion, but with 'love' being pretty broad, she passed him a note declaring love before ever speaking, and Winston was never described as attractive.
