Martin Lewis urges millions to claim back £1,256 from HMRC before deadline in weeks

Martin Lewis is urging millions of people to take action as they risk missing out on more than £1,000.

The money-saving expert said more than two million are missing out on a tax break worth £1,256 and they only have until April 5 to get it before it's gone forever. During this week's episode of the Martin Lewis Money Show Live, he informed viewers that a "staggering" 2.1 million couples can claim Marriage Allowance.

He exclaimed that they should "stop making excuses" and fill in the application form. Couples can get up to £252 this tax year, however, the claim can also be backdated to 2019/20, making it worth £1,256.

Martin Lewis is a scumbag.

He still goes around acting like he's the consumers' champion after selling MSE and pocketing millions - having spent years giving people bad advice that often cost them dearly - and bearing absolutely no responsibility for it.

Years back he was all over TV telling people to open high interest accounts in minor Irish and Indian banks with weasely provisos at the bottom of his blogs like "I am not an expert on bank solvency". He constantly recommended opening accounts with Allied Irish which featured at the top of his MSE league tables. Not only did Anglo Irish collapse a short time later, but a police investigation revealed widespread fraud and malpractice. Lewis never mentions his bad advice and goes with "you should be protected by government guarantees".

He similarly pushed using unstable minority utility providers harping on about how the consumer should change as soon as they see a better deal. Well, he didn't foresee the energy price crisis in 2021 where some of his top picks went bankrupt, customers had no choice but to stay with providers in receivership because all other deals with other providers were either unavailable or crazy prices. Again - Martin Lewis just pretends it didn't happen and that people who listened to him paid the price.
