Forensic science degree

Hi there, I am currently working in specimen booking in for a laboratory over the summer but this irrelevant, I am starting college in August to study nq6 applied science in hopes of attaining my HNC afterwards, I looked at the courses the HNC can open up to me. However what are my chances of getting into a forensics course and of course what job prospects are there afterwards? I’ve heard negatives about it. However one thing is for certain I want to go into forensics in the future and have done way before I even knew the csi show existed so I am not influenced by that, just any advice on the course if possible, what sort of prospects for future careers I can expect would be helpful as I haven’t seen a lot on the universities I looked at.

If you hope to go into a CSI role a forensic science degree will be useful, you’re also able to further specialise after a forensic science degree to widen job prospects (analytical chem, forensic bio etc). from this qualification you are about to study you can possibly enter a foundation year of a forensics course!

from what i hear doing a Forensic Science undergrad is a bit pointless, since doing a standard Biology/Biochem degree lets you go into forensic science after graduating anyway without any disadvantage compared to doing FS (I looked at a few entry level job postings and all they're really looking for is someone with a science degree and some lab experience) and would also let you more easily pivot to different fields after uni.

Something to consider would be to do a broader science degree, and during it try and get a work placement something like this
