Choose King's and free up a space for me at SGUL? :awesome:

(Seriously, please?)

wow your GCSE and AS grades are way better than mine lol, why did you get rejections?! unlucky mate, at least you have a waiting list place which is more than some! good luck with getting a SGUL place!
Well, my feedback from unis gave typical reasons - overcompetitive, oversubscribed...etc. I personally put it down to my UKCAT of 605, though perhaps my personal statement was badly perceived since I wasn't that far off getting shortlisted for an interview at UCL.

Anyway, it's not about the grades. Congratulations on your offers!

Personally, I like kings and feel it has a really good reputation which would be pretty handy in the future in terms of employment (although I am aware in terms of medicine they're all pretty much the same). also i'd enjoy mixing with people in different subjects as i find pretty much everything interesting  so that's another +ve for kings.

Wrong about the reputation thing! King's has a really good reputation but St. George's has an equally strong reputation in medical circles so no, there'll be no difference to your employability! Though your point about mixing with other subjects is a valid one, St. George's is (currently!) a standalone medical school, as opposed to King's being multi-faculty.

I do however like how SGUL is inside the hospital itself, and I'm certain that will lead to far more patient exposure simply on the ground of "the patient is right there, might as well have a look".

They're both great universities, and London is a great city so the truth is i wouldn't exactly dislike being at either one. I'm tempted to put kings as my firm (meaning i will have no insurance, these are my only 2 offers) but I'd like to hear any opinions that anyone might have if possible!

thanks dudes/dudettes

I recommend using your insurance choice too. Though both will ask for the same grades, you might as well put the other as your insurance, just in case you miss your offer and one rejects but the other one decides to accept you (maybe based on interview performance, though granted this is unlikely!)

ah ok fair enough, just assumed since kings has a good reputation anyway (ie as a general university, not just in medical terms) it might look better to have come from there (thinking of abroad as well as UK employment), but i guess they're the same xD i've been on the georges open day, and i have my kings post-offer open day on april 15th so i'm not making my decision until that, and while i was very impressed with georges (a lot more than i expected) i'm still leaning towards kings.. persuade me otherwise?

EDIT: and yeah i was going to do the insurance thing anyway, but figured it's not REALLY an insurance since it's very unlikely (pretty much 0..lol :P ) i'll get in without the AAAb they asked for, but i'll put it anyway, never know!

True, King's has a better overall reputation as they're a multi-faculty university as opposed to George's which is a specialist medical school with medicine and other allied subjects like biomed, physio, nursing, etc, and naturally wouldn't have a reputation in, say, humanities!

The best advice I can give is make sure you visit both before making your decision as ultimately you will be stuck there for at least two/three years, if not you're whole medical degree!

Good luck!!
i think kings.. cuz it has a better reputation...

It's v personal, everyone has different priorities, opinions and tastes.

I liked King's more, personally.

Just one reason: I preferred the location to that of St George's.

Patient exposure? You'll see more patients than you could ever want to see, pretty much wherever you go. Or work as an HCA. I wouldn't worry about patient exposure tbh
King's, because I'm going there, and that makes it cool.
