What is Freshers week about and what actually goes on?

What is Freshers week about and what actually goes on?

I am hopefully going to York or Gloucestershire to study Sociology (if that makes a difference)

I was just wondering what goes on over the week and for those who are past or present students at York or Gloucestershire uni whats Freshers week like there?

Everyone moves in at the start of it and then for the rest of the week there are lots of registration sessions for various things, also introductory sessions for your subjects.

Apart from that it's just about having fun! At Aston freshers week has a theme so superheros etc. We had daytime things like taster sessions for the different clubs and societies, trips to Alton Towers/Cadbury World and then loads of different night time events too.

Then at the end of the week we had Freshers' Fair which is where you join up to any clubs/societies that you want to & get lots of freebies!

Mainly a lot of drinking and partying is what most freshers weeks are about around registration and welcome meetings. At mine there was different kind of party or event every night with library tours, introductions etc. during the day.

Just a time to socialise with people etc. Have a look out for all the activities they will be having and try to loads and get to know more people. Theres usually stuff to do that involves drinking and stuff that doesn't involve drinking. Just look in the student union for more info. Have fun!
