Personal Statement:Tourism Management 1

I am an ambitious student ready to take any challenge presented, and I will see it through to success. Currently I am studying for a National Diploma in Travel and Tourism, and I love every moment of it. I am currently studying the Business of Tourism, Sustainable Tourism, and Hospitality Operations. I have found myself really engaging with these units, and I would love to study them further at university to increase my knowledge. I have a passion for the industry and I am keen on taking a Tourism course that is management based. I have a passion for marketing, business operations, languages and destination development.

I am applying for my chosen course because I feel that they fit excellently into my career path, and also because I believe it will challenge and stimulate me, and help me to reach my potential. I want to develop not only as a student but as an individual. I want to be part of a university that fully supports its students and encourages excellence. I want to succeed; I want to go the extra mile. I want to go to university to further my education, to grow as a student and as a person, and to gain independence in my education. I do not want to be average, I do not believe in just being average. I want to rise above and beyond and achieve things I never thought I can do. In ten years' time, I want to turn round and say I had the best time of my life and, come out of university with no regrets. I want to walk away with a professional qualification and a smile on my face.

One of the things that has drawn me to the course I am applying for is that it offers a broad selection of modules. The course offers me a chance to study further the areas that I am interested in. I have a strong desire to learn, broaden, and to sharpen my thinking and learning skills. I fully understand how challenging my chosen course will be, as Tourism is an industry that never stays the same; it is forever diversifying and changing. I want to prepare myself as best as I can for a successful career within the industry, and I feel that by going to university, this will allow me that step up to do so.

For past three years I have been continuously elected class representative and was on the student representative committee. I am really proud of this achievement. Being on the student committee has taught me a lot about responsibility. In classes I have chaired meetings, which taught me how to lead a team and how to work well in teams and with individuals. I have given plenty of presentations, which have taught me how to communicate appropriately and effectively to my audience. I regularly engage in class discussions, and in class projects. I am really reliable and attend college and classes regularly. I am committed and dedicated to my studies.

I am looking forward to university life and all it has to offer. I really enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life. I am a sociable person and am hoping to join some clubs in my spare time to enable me to continue with my present interests and also discover some new hobbies too hopefully. I fully intend to take advantage of the facilities and societies on offer at university. I am a conscientious and inquisitive person; I have an outgoing and bubbly personality. I am polite and dependable. I have love to meet people from all over the world and from all walks of life. I love to watch Spanish films and listen to Spanish music. I have a strong enthusiasm to learn foreign languages.

I think I will be a worthwhile student in university because I am motivated to succeed; I have got a burning passion to learn and develop. I regularly hit deadlines and I always come into class with an attitude of readiness and willingness to learn.
