Only 7 GCSEs?

I'm in year 11 and I just thought I'd see what it would look like if I got all my predicted grades and I realised - I;m only doing 7...

English Language - A (already gotten it)
English Literature - A (predicted grade)
History - A* (predicted)
R.E (short course) - A (predicted)
German - A (predicted)
Mathmatics - B (predicted)
Art - A* (predicted)
Core Science - B (predicted)
Life/Work Skills - P

Now thats only 7 GCSEs, 1 1/2 a GCSE.
It's not many - how come people have like 9, 10 or even 11?? What extra ones do they take?

Well I took English x 2, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics (all standard for my school) then my options I took RS, Economics, Spanish, French and Drama

Usually people take double award science thats one other GCSE and then triple science (the individual sciences chem, bio, psychics) and then people usually do a technology (im generalising here).

Additional sciences, music, business, some ICT courses can be about 4 gcse's in total. There's other languages and drama.
I took Enligh Lit + Lang, Maths, 3 sciences, applied ICT (2 gcses), art, music and drama

Tell your school you want to do extra GCSEs and if need be, you will be willing to work on it in your own time. I was doing RS short course but asked my teacher if I could do the full and she rang up AQA and let me. What about Citizenship? That's an easy GCSE you don't even have to revise for. Do you know any languages besides English?
Triple Science or at least double, usually. 7 doesn't sound like many.

I was MADE to take:
RE [C],
Maths ,
Core Science [A*],
Additional Science [A*],
Eng Language ,
Eng Literature [A],
Engineering [A]
ICT [Merit]
and chose French [A*],
Graphic Products [A*],
Business&Econ [A],
Dutch
So 12 lol, it depends on what your school has to offer really, mine was an Engineering & Maths&ICT Specialist school/Church of England so a lot of subjects were compulsory to start with.

Im doing 13.

Eng + eng lit + maths + science + two languages is cumpulsory

then we have to choose a arts - either art, drama or music (can do two)
then a humanities i chose georgraphy
two languages
ict is cumpulsory for the first year ( worth one GCSe but can be worth three if you carry on like i am)
I've got GCSE's in: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English, English Literature, History, Psychology, DT and Media (in case anyone points out the irony as I regularly bash media, it was compulsory), so 10.
BTECs in: Drama, Art, P.E & I.T.

You only really need 5 A-C's, so you're not insanely disadvantaged, although that is less than what people normally have (I think).
I did 11, French, History, English (x2), Science (x3), Textiles, Maths, Statistics, Religious Studies.
Maths/at least 1 science/at least 1 english were compulsory, as was a technology (we're a Technology College).
You also had to do RS to some extent...however, most of my friends did it as an extra on top of their other choices and it counted for half a GCSE, whereas I chose to do it as a full option so it counted as a full GCSE. Statistics was super optional...after school class on a friday in year 11¬
I did 10. Didn't really do good in them though.

English lit
English lang
Science x 2
Geography
Resistant materials
Drama
Maths
Humanities
German
If I take Additional Science will my Biology, Chemistry and Physics appear as 3 seperate GCSE's?

I did a nice round 10 also.

English lang, English lit, History, French, German, Maths, ICT, and three sciences.

You could ask to do more, if you think you have time before the end of year 11?

Edit: A levels are more important, anyway, if that's the route you intend to go down.

You may only be doing 7 1/2 gcse's but it looks like you are going to get really good grades. So i wouldnt worry about it. Plus you will have c or above in english maths and science, which are the main ones unis look at. And you have good enough grades to do whatever you want after school (6th form, college, etc)
What the hell is "life/work skills" :lolwut:

I did 11 last year which is standard at my high school.

Eng lit and lang.
Double science (I did triple aswell).
Maths.
ICT (in year 9).
and apart form the triple science I also chose to do geography and history aswell as the exams for religious studies (everyone had to do the lessons but you could pick to do the exam).

And in your opening post you mention 9 subjects not seven!?!?!?!

No, I think it's just one GCSE. To get 3 separate ones, you need to do triple science.
7 is not very many and its best 2 get some more while you can if poss. I also did 7 coz that was the maximum offered coz it was a crap school. Of those 7 3 were languages so i basically have rubbish GCSEs and that affects my job opportunities, my UCAS application etc so if poss do some more while u have the chance. Maybe Citizenship like someone suggested.

Nah, it's only when you do triple science that they do that. With Additional Science you get two GCSEs- a core science one(stuff usually done in yr 10) and an additional science one(yr 11).
