Hey, I wear hold-ups instead of tights but I'm starting sixth form in September and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to get a suspender belt because sometimes I feel that the hold-ups don't stay up too great for me. Thanks

M&S do some good ones - http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Sheer-Suspender/dp/B002CNLJ8U?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_6&nodeId=55526031&sr=1-6&qid=1304371660&pf_rd_r=1NXYTMFHFJ766VJDFCB7&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=55526031&pf_rd_p=215570647&pf_rd_s=related-items-3

They're nice and plain with metal clips, ideal for everyday wearing under a school skirt. They only come in black, but that's what I prefer. MUCH more reliable than hold-ups!
You really do want metal clasps for everyday use. Tend to be a bit more expensive but definitely worth the investment.

Something like:

Little plastic ones from places like La Senza are just so flimsy, you spend most of the day panicking that you're about to lose a stocking.

Ew why? She's in school. A school with a knee-length skirt uniform policy...

I'm assuming she's not 11, probably 6th form, and that her circle of peers and thus the males she is interested in are around her age and there too. We all know how much you girlies like to tempt and tease guys, and a glimpse of stocking top or suspender belt would send most adolescent boys into a sexual frenzy. Fun for the girl giving her an ego boost and an idea of the power women can have over men if they can only muster the confidence and shed any prissy inhibitions, and fun for the boys too, obviously.

Just seems like a porno is all, the whole school uniform and visible suspenders thing, especially since OP was trying to ask a serious question about wearing them for completely innocent and practical reasons.
You can have the best of both worlds with these...

I'm in year 11 and wear a pair to school sometimes, other times I wear hold-ups or suspenders depending. I wear a tight bodycon skirt and I'd say the issue isnt showing the bumps from the belt etc but actually making sure the skirt stays down and doesnt snag on anything when your getting up/down cos it can be quite revealing :/ Another way to avoid showing the clips, belt etc under your skirt is to untuck your shirt, that should hide most of it like I do sometimes.

Exactly! I suspect there are a lot of girls who don't like or get on with tights for various reasons, and stockings with a suspender belt are a perfectly practical and reasonable alternative - and so much more reliable than hold-ups that seem to be the more 'acceptable' option.
Doooo it , i wear them occasionally instead of tights, they're so comfortable

I personally find hold-up stockings are the most comfy and convenient to wear. They never slip down either, at least the ones that cost around £7 or more.

This is how you wear hold up stockings for everyday casual wear with mini skirts/dresses. See how you dont need to wear knee length skirts if you want to wear hold ups, just position the top/bands at the top of your thighs as so:

Example, here looks like youre wearing tights:

But in fact wearing hold up stockings:

By the way if anyone is interested in where to get the clothes from in those photos heres some links:
Skirt
Jumper
Marks and Spencers - Autograph 60 Denier Velvet Touch Hold Ups

For going clubbing ive found these to look the nicest:
Pretty Polly - Gloss 10 denier hold ups
Ive worn this dress with them you can easily hide the band/tops under your mini dress, when you sit down you can see them a little it depends how wide the stocking band, how short the skirt and how far up you position the hold ups.

Those hold ups ive linked, they never slide down either, not even a millimeter - ive worn them all day and night and they never slipped down even slightly. And are so much more comfortable and convenient than tights! I personally find that half of the time i forget im wearing stockings as they feel like any other clothing.

Those pretty polly gloss hold ups, ive been in and out of taxi's, walked for a fair bit, been dancing for hours, they just dont slide down theyre really good!
