What did you guys put for the method improvement for the frequency?

Was it to do with the chi-squared test? :/

I said work the frequency out as:

(Frequency of species/Total frequency)*100

which would give the percentage of each ladybird at each height. This is an improvement as you can directly compare the values for each height.

I did. Apparently we misread the question. People tell me it was the red ladybirds which were bb, meaning the q^2 = 296/346, not 50/346 (as we did).

ohh fml! another question wrong
Literally give up right now lol.

Aha I think I managed to get them into the senescence question somehow :s-smilie:
I think it was 60 for an A and 55/54 ish for a B.

To whoever negged me about this ^^ I thought it is 60 for an A in January .....

what did people put for the type of nucleic acid? i had no idea...

and the method for improving the table?

3 marks to explain what the problems with culling hedgehogs would be?

1. We introduced them to that habitat.
2. Ermmm, they look nice.
3. I guess they have feelings too... sorta.

But at the same time you want to know more

ohh yes  i have seen like 2 questions that i got right. Although i loved the tissue culture and behaviour - felt like the only decent questions there!

Can someone upload the paper please!

1)a) Plant protein - animal protein (3)
b) Processes that lead to process B (humus) (2)
c) How the processes C and D contribute to plant growth (reference to nitrifying bacteria).
?) What plant could the farmer use to restore nitrogen the soil? (2)
?) Why rare sheep should be kept in existence (2)
?) The two processes involved in allowing sheep to eat seaweed (2)
?) The two major problems that cause these sheep to be rare? (2?)
?) What are the three stop codons? (1)
?) Why do stop codons stop translation (or some ****)?
?) What are the other 4 amino acids in the chain?
?) Differences between Somatic Cell Therapy and Germline Cell Therapy (2)
?) Differences between PNS and CNS (4)
?) Differences between Prophase 1 and Prophase 2 (2)
?) Describe and explain what happens to the population of waders after hedgehogs are introduced (6)
?) Percentage decrease of Swipes in area 2 (2)
?) Advantages of learned and innate behaviour (11)
?) Describe the process of tissue culture? (7)
?) Describe a suitable method for the student to measure ladybirds up the hill?
?) Explain a more suitable method to list the data collected (frequencies of ladybirds)? (2)
?) The student says, "positive correlation = ladybirds survive better in high altitudes". Is he correct in saying this? (3)
?) Work out p and q (hardy weinberg) (2)
?) Hedgehogs are being trapped and killed. Discuss the ethical implications (3)
?) Explain why nearly all the Elm trees were wiped out when the disease hit (3)
?) Molecular analysis to show they're clones (1)
?) How do Elm trees produce clones [or something] (1)
?) The disease causes the leaves to turn yellow and die. Explain why? (2)
?) How does the leaves dying cause the roots to die? (2?)
?) UUU changed to UUA. What mutation is this? (1)
?) Name of the nucleic acide in 5.2 (2)
?) Define innate behaviour (2)
?) Define learned behaviour (2)
?) Define recessive (1)
?) Suggest and explain (?) two reasons why the hedgehog population increased so much (or something). (4?)

Add to it.

I put tRNA and then chi-squared on a whim

i put peptide bond :colondollar: went completely blank. some people put hydrogen bonds though in my class...
totally screwed that method for improving the table.. i was too busy concentrating on finishing other more worthy questions.

I wrote some **** to do with making the numbers of ladybird into percentages as the number of ladybird were different from altitudes.

Nothing wrong with culling them ... but your reasons stand for killing
I had no idea how to get three marks there ...

Pretty sure that's correct.

1 mark for saying it. 1 mark for explaining why it's an improvement. 1 mark for showing how.

firstly the nitrogen question had no idea at all. left most of it out or waffled!!! i cant believe this one paper could affect our future!!!
the hardy weinberg i did the right method but for some reason on my calculate i ended up with 0.96 instead of 0.92 (no idea how). hopefully therel be carry through marks :s-smilie:

I personally put mRNA, some put tRNA.

I mentioned chi-sqaured for that too

The nucleic acid must have been mRNA.

You were asked to read off the codons to figure out the amino acids. AUG (initiation codon) is Met (which is the mRNA codon).

If it were tRNA, you would be reading the anti-codons, so Met would have been UAC.

I put the idea that all organisms have a right to live, and some people believe our responsibility as humans is to look after other species, so it is wrong to kill them. On the other hand, if humans don't intervene then the birds will die, so is it right to kills organisms of one species to save another species? :s-smilie: stupid question
