this reminds me of when we used to study different types of reasoning at school, and there is one (can't remember how it's called) that is characteristic of how young children think. It goes like this:

My dad is a builder.
Jack has a dad.
Therefore Jack's dad is a builder.

So your train of thought must have been something like this:

Gail Trimble has something to do with classics at oxford
this girl has something to do with classics at oxford
therefore this girl is Gail Trimble.
