Stalin Russia: I've heard it could be on WW2, social realism/social polices/culture, the USSR emerging as a superpower has never been on before so that has a chance or possibly totalitarian state/personal dictatorship

Russia in revolution: possibly the Bolsheviks consolidation of power/civil war or the 1905 revolution
