I said the USSR was intolerant due to Marxism, fear of Nazi invasion/Stalin's fear of opposition and Stalin's desire for power.

For the 24 marker I put something along the lines of: it was due to purge of church, collectivisation, industry creating more proletariats, removal of Nepmen and re-educating people through youth groups vs it wasn't because of political rather than economic determinism, still some privatisation, reintroduction of money after War Communism and the fact that there was a dictator/classes still so not everyone was equal. Overall I said by 1941 it was less so due to reopening of the churches due to war... How about you?

I wouldn't worry about not mentioning night of the long knives, you have still put in way more evidence than I did!! What was your overall judgement for this question?

12 Marker Russia-
1- Because of Marx and the desire to achieve a Utopia
2- Stalins personal beliefs- including the peasants being easily influenced so an alternative ideology could rise
3- And also the creation of a Communist state with no intolerance of diversity would allow them to develop and assist other nations in turn communist

24Marker-
Political - Lenin created a OPS which was Marxist but he was the Godlike leader- not marx- collective leadership
Economical- Old NEP non marx, cause of private ownership but then collectivisation and 5 year plans- MARX as it was state controlled- however still private ownership of land and some examples ie %
Religious- MARX said opium of masses, stalin abolished didn't accept as he was seen as the leader and godlike figure- but didn't close all just for grain storage, re-open WW2 and census 1937- 57% people claiming they had a religion
Culturally- limited peoples abilities and said that they need people to be submissive to state- which was Marx
CULT of Stalin and Lenin- both clearly non marxist as it called for collective leadership and the Godlike figure they were made up to be wasn't marx

Overall, i said they had a system which was more like a dictatorship than a marxist utopian state!

12 Germany-
1- ideology talking about Fuhrerprinzip and Nietzsche
2- ideology nationalist- and one great man could pull the nation out of darkness and restore pride
3- context of time and communism being evil whereas Nazism would be active in creating a strong Germany as well as the failings of democracy as it was weak

24Marker
I said the Nazi Ideology was important to an extent but their were more important reasons such as - terror and violence/ intimidation and political cunningness (Reichstag fire). It was Hitlers pragmatic beliefs and adaptability that was a really significant factor.

But in this question i think i've written too much about his rise to chancellor and not enough of 33-34?
What do you guys reckon the grade boundaries will be like? The questions they asked were all extremely similar to the June 2013 series questions which is really odd so I reckon they'll be same-ish boundaries:

A -48
B -42
C -36
D -30
E -24

Don't worry, most of my focus was towards 1933 too. The dates were really broad so if you were in depth from 1928 to 1933 and then focused a little from then until Aug. 1934 surely that would be alright, I hope so anyway!
Did anyone do the Tsarist Russia: 1855-1917 unit exam today? If you did what did you think of it?
Did 1L Britain 1906-1951, the questions went really well actually..... however I forgot to make my word doc double spaced when I printed it :frown: anyone know if they will take marks away for that
I did 1C reformation but the people in my year who did Russia Aqa said it was horrendous!

I did this exam last year and I don't think there has ever been more than one question (as in a 12 and a 24) on Henry VIII so I think that should be fine

I did just that, and I've done great! thanks a lot
did anyone do unit 1D?

Yeah it was horrible, there was one 12 mark question 'explain why rasputin got murdered' which caught everyone out, even my history teacher was surprised!

Unit 1 History: 1906-51

Questions:
1) 1906 LIBERAL LANDSLIDE
2) LIBERAL REFORMS

3) ECONOMY - POST WAR
4) GENERAL STRIKE

How did everybody do? Aaah.
Personally I think the exam was ok! Ran out of time for one of the 12 markers though!

Trying to reassure them that everyone must feel the same! Glad to know someone in a different part of the country feels the same!

Horrible! Everyone from my history class including re-sits came out of the exam hall crying and cursing... We thought we were all so prepared until the moment we saw the questions
Rasputin? Zemstva's? Socialist Revolutionary Party's formation? (let me just emphasise RASPUTIN ??!)
I don't even study Russia and that question seems quite easy just through general knowledge and Boney M's Rararaspuin ;D,

History 1L I think it went quite well, Liberal landslide question would've caught a lot of people out I think since it asked why Baldwin's governments ideology led to the loss rather than just why did the conservatives lose. I linked the belief in saving the empire with imperial protectionism (1903 Tariff Reform), looking out for voters (Taff Vale + 1904 Licensing Act) and their anti-socialism beliefs with the neglect of social reform (1902 Education Act) and the Rowntree Report during Boer War.

For the general strike question I talked about Emergency Powers Act, Samuel Report, TUC failure to use full extent of its powers and Mine owners lock out/War of attrition.

WW1 question I talked about demobilisation,Wartime to peace time production and overproduction in the staples

Lib social reform one I talked about 1908 Old age pensions act and the 1906/1907 Education acts as positives and then their limitations afterwards e.g only 70+ so 10 year gap with national insurance aswell as the sliding scale so many didn't get full amount and therefore had to work to stay above poverty line, did same with kids and said only 1/2 providing meals and not always able to treat diagnosed condition without family falling deeper into poverty

Overall though was a nice paper, panicked abit before the exam but once I got in I just got my head down and finished all the questions with 15 mins to spare  spent the rest of the time adding extra points and facts. I reckon ive gotten about 19 on each of the 24's and maybe 10/11 on the 12's so hopefully maybe 58/59 out of 72
I did 1H and quite enjoyed it actually! Some of the 12-mark questions were a little unexpected but they were decent questions nonetheless (: I did 2 & 3 - I finished but made myself cut off some near the end. I have a really bad timing problem though so quite happy with that aspect of it (:

Anyone else doing 2P (I think it's that - African-American civil rights 1950-68 anyway)?

Everyone from my history class felt exactly the same like you described it, it caught everyone by surprise! I just don't see how Rasputin was significant enough to write a 12 mark q on him, I mean yeah he meddled with the tsarina and got involved with politics and sacked some ministers whilst the tsar was out on the front line commanding the troops, but 'why he got murdered'? Durhh, because no one liked him lol, no much more explanation needed!

Apart from that though it was an 'alright' exam however I completely missed out one 12 mark q due to my timing issues :frown:
