Design and visual communications help

I have just graduated from high school, and still don't have a clue what to study in university so I'm currently in the process of researching.
I came across this major 'design and visual communication' and would like some insight on it please, like what qualities do I need to take on this major and a description of the kind of work I'll be doing if I did take it. Thank you x
