What are the conditions exactly for getting an A* at A2?
For Maths I know you have to have 80% overall and 90% in C3 and C4, but what is it like for other subjects, i.e Physics and Chemistry?

For aqa it's just 90% average on all A2 modules I'm pretty sure!

... this is my book segment of the PS:

Hi Dan. It's really not a good idea to post ANY part of your PS on a public forum. If someone else copies it on theirs, it will get picked up by plagiarism software and you will both end up with a pile of rejections. Best to remove this part of your post and ask anyone who may have quoted it to do the same.

Yeah better not risk it! Thanks
No problem.
Ringwood, south of England.
Physics, biology, chemistry, maths, further maths

AS's: I got AAAA and an A* in my maths

A2's I'm aiming for 3A*'s in physics, further maths and chem and I'm dropping bio.

Love quantum, particle, relativity and basically all physics but they're my favourite!! Ooh and thermal physics!!

Oxford, manchester, Imperial, Exeter (and I'm not too sure about the last one but I think I'm aiming for Birmingham).

And going for a MSci in straight physics.

Nice to meet other physics enthusiasts. There aren't many at my school!! Xxxx

So your results went well then!
There's a grand total of... 2 other people in my year, don't know why there's so little, a load doing maths degrees but that's no where near as interesting :P

I was shocked trust me. I was so unwell over the exam period I don't even know how I made it to the exam room some days!!

And that's the same with me except there's only one other person studying physics at uni and she's on the fence (go to an all girls school). We have a few budding engineers though so that boosts the figures a little??

And there's only 10 in our fm class :frown: :frown:. Xx

I've never understood why less girls do science and technology degrees

10 in mine too! The class was split 50/50 between As and A*s so it's a tough class to be in

Me neither to be honest.

That's cool- are there 2 fm classes then??

Na, Just the one
Is your class doing M3 or S3?

We've done M1 and M2 now we are going to do D1, D2, S1 and S2. But I don't really want to do that so I'm going to teach myself M3 and M4 instead of stats. 😛😛

What about you??

Your exam board works differently to mine I think
We've done C1 C2 C3 C4 M1 S1
And this year we're doing FP1 FP2 FP3 M2 M3 S2
Teaching yourself the mechanics modules is probably a lot more useful

Oh we had done c1, c2, c3 and c4 as well but instead of s1 we did m2 😊😊

Is anyone interested in quantum gravity research after their degree?
Anyone know which unis are best for astro research? Hadn't thought about it at all (idiotically) until I saw someone reconsider Bath since their astro research is practically non-existent??
Want to go into astro so clearly would like to go to a uni with more top class research!
As it stands my applications are straight 4 year physics at Oxford, Bath (decided to apply anyway cause I love it so much), Manchester, Edinburgh and Imperial... good/bad?

Agree with the mechanics being more useful! Our school has just given us the option of M3 instead of FP4 and since half of our 6 person FM class are doing physics we went for M3!

The usual Bristol UCL etc.
But I would advise looking at Exeter and Leicester who specialise in astro and have great research themes

Fab, thanks!
Hey everyone!
I'll be applying to Cambridge, Durham, Manchester and will pick 2 from UCL/Imperial/Bristol (advice?). Thinking of applying for physics with astrophysics where possible..

I got all As in Physics/Chemistry/Maths/Further Maths AS.

Just wondering, but after doing a physics degree, let's say I can't find a job in research, will it still be possible to go into a related field like aeronautical engineering, or would I be at a disadvantage compared to someone who has a degree in engineering?

Hey everyone!
I'll be applying to Cambridge, Durham, Manchester and 2 from UCL/Imperial/Bristol-advice? UCI and Imperial are both in London so expensive, I don't like UCL's communication studies part of the course and the fact they track how many lectures you go to etc giving you less independence; I don't like Imperial having no opportunity to study a year abroad in US/Canada for physics and the gender ratio isn't great. Both unis have good reputations though and Bristol gives slightly lower offers of AAA.

I'll probably apply for physics with astrophysics where possible. Got all A's in physics/chemistry/maths/Further Maths

Another question but let's say after completing a physics degree, I can't find a job in research, will it still be possible to go into a related field such as aeronautical engineering or will I be at a disadvantage compared to someone who did their degree in engineering?
