2015 Physics Applicants

What are the conditions exactly for getting an A* at A2?
For Maths I know you have to have 80% overall and 90% in C3 and C4, but what is it like for other subjects, i.e Physics and Chemistry?

Hi Dan. It's really not a good idea to post ANY part of your PS on a public forum. AS's: I got AAAA and an A* in my maths

A2's I'm aiming for 3A*'s in physics, further maths and chem and I'm dropping bio.

Love quantum, particle, relativity and basically all physics but they're my favourite!! Ooh and thermal physics!!

Oxford, manchester, Imperial, Exeter (and I'm not too sure about the last one but I think I'm aiming for Birmingham).

And going for a MSci in straight physics.

Nice to meet other physics enthusiasts. There aren't many at my school!! Xxxx

There's a grand total of... 2 other people in my year, don't know why there's so little, a load doing maths degrees but that's no where near as interesting :P

I was shocked trust me. I was so unwell over the exam period I don't even know how I made it to the exam room some days!!

And that's the same with me except there's only one other person studying physics at uni and she's on the fence (go to an all girls school). We have a few budding engineers though so that boosts the figures a little??

And there's only 10 in our fm class . Xx

I've never understood why less girls do science and technology degrees

10 in mine too! The class was split 50/50 between As and A*s so it's a tough class to be in

Is your class doing M3 or S3?

We've done M1 and M2 now we are going to do D1, D2, S1 and S2. But I don't really want to do that so I'm going to teach myself M3 and M4 instead of stats. 😛😛

What about you??

Your exam board works differently to mine I think
We've done C1 C2 C3 C4 M1 S1
And this year we're doing FP1 FP2 FP3 M2 M3 S2
Teaching yourself the mechanics modules is probably a lot more useful

Oh we had done c1, c2, c3 and c4 as well but instead of s1 we did m2

Anyone know which unis are best for astro research? Hadn't thought about it at all (idiotically) until I saw someone reconsider Bath since their astro research is practically non-existent??
Want to go into astro so clearly would like to go to a uni with more top class research!
As it stands my applications are straight 4 year physics at Oxford, Bath (decided to apply anyway cause I love it so much), Manchester, Edinburgh and Imperial... good/bad?

The usual Bristol UCL etc.
But I would advise looking at Exeter and Leicester who specialise in astro and have great research themes
