Protest Culture question Edexcel

What did everyone write?

I completely messed up.

I wrote about the succesess and failures of MLK protests but I linked it to the questions.

I did the naacp question but my friend told me
Apparently we talk about all ethnic minorities: native Americans, Hispanics, black Americans
And we also talk about women and like media and stuff
The populuxe lifestyle, perhaps Disney
Definitely about the new left and students

Are we still talking about D5?

I thought it was a more interesting question than the NAACP one much wider.
I did:
Intro brief background on the golden era of protests
Supporting point 1 MLKs peaceful protest and how much it achieved
Supporting 2 how the era of widespread protests inspired people to push for change
Opposing 1 how it wasn't the protests that gained individual freedom, but the supreme court (through legislation)
Opposing 2 how the era of protests fuelled the re emergence of hate groups such as the KKK
Conclusion - I said that the success of protests far outweighed the failures

Everyone I sat the exam with shied away from it 😔

It definitely is more interesting but I never revised that topic properly and I knew all the campaigns and cases.
I think that's a really good answer
My structure wasn't as great and nether was my conclusion

My teacher didn't teach us that because we didn't have enough time. I thought protest culture in the 1960s could mention MLK protests. I will probably get a U then lol, oh well I'm dropping history

Thats good!!!
I probably should have talked about other aspects of civil rights apart from African Americans, but my teacher said it doesn't matter, as long as you're answering the question and your evidence supports your viewpoint

Yeah, I only mentioned African Americans so hopefully I will get at least 10/30 for that.
I'm dropping it too!
But I'm gonna Ms it even though I'm so bad at it
Do you think I can get away with not mentioning the Montgomery bus boycott

You should do far better than that. The question didn't ask for any particular demographic in terms of gaining individual freedoms, and didn't even mention the word 'minorities'. As long as you have made a logical well supported argument you should do well! How much roughly did you write?

Yeah, but that is probably on the mark scheme so you probably won't get full marks.

To get full marks you have to mention the whole mark scheme

Sad times wahhhhhhhhh
I'm hoping for 23/30
And for the second question, I don't even know, probably 18/30
Hopefully that's an A
And then in unit 2, I'm gonna try really hard!
There's a thread for unit 2

Just saw this-

Hopefullly! I wrote 4 paragraphs and about 5 sides. It was well written and I explained why peaceful protests were a success and not a success. I also made sure I linked back to the question

Kind of works in our favour though. If 95% of the country has done the NAACP question, examiners will be much more sympathetic for taking the challenging option
