There's something wrong with your contact page. There's no tab that says 'my contact info' where you find the bit to PM. This is de issue.

This has to be a recent issue because I've had PMs from complete strangers before (I've even had an unprompted one from @acupofgreentea not too long ago). :s-smilie:

I'll check my settings and report the problem if it's not as simple as (un)ticking a box in the privacy settings.
