Anyone else think that Lord of the Rings is racist?

It clearly is based on Nordic folklore, but at the same time, the only ethnic group Tolkien ever expressed dislike towards during his life was in fact the Germans, as an upper class Englishman who fought in world war 1.


Yet we don't have Germans coming here with their victim complexes claiming that LotR is racist against them. This all the said, his books aren't particularly good and people should stop getting such a boner over them.

I think people should stop getting a boner how cool and trendy it is to dismiss Lord of the Rings as crap now.

I thought it was overrated before it was cool to do so. Tolkien's use of language is pretentious and clunky. I started thinking it was a bit when I read The Silmarillion.

Guess it's simply that it wouldn't be as good of a story if those places didn't exist-

Imagine if all the places were multicultural and therefore not able to be defined by any of the races?

Each setting's hugely different, and it's a pleasure to the eyes, and imagination

Better than the Shire having the occasional orc casually living there that everyone keeps an eye on
