Diversity at the University of Bath?

I applied for Mathematics and I am going to pick the Uni of Bath and the Uni of Southampton as my firm and insurance but one thing that I wanted to know was if there is diversity at Bath since this can have a big impact on which uni I pick. I am Kurdish and I live in London where there is a lot of diversity but I don't know if the same goes for unis outside of London.

Put it this way, in my final year the SU team were 5 white british men.

But actually generally it is somewhat diverse- and there are a lot of societies etc. It is nowhere as near as diverse as somewhere like London obviously and I can't remember specifically meeting anyone Kurdish during my time there. But it is an open and friendly place and you will feel comfortable there I'm sure.

I guess the only thing is the lack of people from your specific background and whether it is important for you to socialise with Kurdish people as well?

I'm Kurdish but from Turkey and it would be nice if there were people from my ethnic group but it isn't something major. Have you met any Turkish people at Bath? I saw 2 when I came to the open day but not at the uni.

Great pubs.

Good Bars.

Ok clubs.

It's a compact city so you can visit numerous places in a single night.

Like anywhere else, if you meet the right people you will have a great time. A really great time.

Hello mate, I will be doing my Masters at Bath uni and wondered if there any kurdish societies. I'm also Kurdish.
there is great diversity in the different type of sports people specialise in there

Hi there!

Bath isn't the biggest of cities so can be lacking in diversity compared to big cities such as London. However, 30% of our students are international, and this website can give a breakdown of where our international students are from. From my personal experience, a lot of British students come from the south as it is a bit of an awkward place to get to if you live up north.

Although we do not yet have a Kurdish society, we have a number of societies that represent our student's different ethnicities and cultures ranging from Hindu society to Bulgarian society. You could be the first to start a Kurdish society and reach out to your fellow Kurdish students!

Let me know if you have any more questions,
