Earth Science vs Geology

I've been trying to do some research on geology courses which I'm quite interested in. I'm just wondering the difference between an earth science degree and a geology degree?

They are essentially the same thing, Earth Science degrees are just Geology degrees with a little more flexibility in terms of module options.

It doesn't matter, either. Look at the module options for various degrees, some universities do modules in glaciology and others don't. If you are particularly interested in glaciology then it might be worth doing a joint honours geology and physical geography degree.

Would that require a geography a level though? I am currently doing physics chemistry and maths

This will vary on a university-by-university basis. Some universities use 'Earth Sciences' as a name for their courses that offer more flexibility than their traditional geoscience courses (e.g. in the case of UCL, I think their Earth Sciences course allows you to choose any modules from their Geology, Geophysics or Environmental Geoscience courses) whereas others use the name to refer to a geoscience course with a greater natural science/quantitative focus than traditional geoscience courses.

In terms of glaciology, you'll need to have a look at individual courses to see if they offer specific glaciology modules. I wouldn't necessarily discount a course just because it doesn't have a module called 'glaciology' though because it's quite a niche topic and you don't need it to do a glaciology masters.
