Getting to end of Level 3 apprenticeship

I'm almost at the end of my Level 3 with a chance to progress to level 4 with my current employer. But the level 4 is only equivalent to a foundation degree and it is for 2 years. Do i do this or should i look for a full degree apprenticeship? What do you think?

Well if you want a degree then simply do a degree apprenticeship - but only do one if you think you're able to cope with the workload & you can manage your time efficiently (Work and study time). I've recently started a degree apprenticeship and I'm already struggling.

But if you stay on with your current employer it would be better as you have already established a rapport with them and foundation degrees do not require as much work as a full degree.

Hi there,

If you are wanting to get a degree without going to university then a degree apprenticeship may be for you! However, they can last up to 6 years, depending on the scheme you choose and there will be a high workload, that would involve lots of juggling between studying and working.

A higher (level 4) apprenticeship may be an alternative as you would be staying with the same employer, who you have already established a good relationship with.

Hi,

Here is the good news! The apprentice does not have to pay anything towards their training, whilst they are an apprentice no matter what age.

This is all paid for by the employer, if it's non-levy paying the employer makes a 10% contribution towards training costs. If it's a large employer with a payroll over £3million, the employer pays for it through their apprenticeship levy.

There is no maximum age to become an apprentice. People looking for a career change can do so through an apprenticeship, which is great news!

The apprenticeship reforms introduced by government to increase the number of apprenticeships by 3 million by 2020. To do this they have introduced an apprenticeship levy which is a payroll tax that employers (with a £3million pay bill)have to pay.
