Wasting money on money pit games.......

Spent way too much cash on one again today. As always, I feel bad about it. But I know it's bound to happen again and again. What's the science behind these games? They are not even that good. I honestly don't know why I do it, but I am not the only one, hell, I am not even the biggest spender in the game.

Can you not just restrict access to your phone for the day so you won't be tempted to play these games? You can delete the apps, delete your account and give your phone to a friend for safe-keeping so you won't be tempted to log in. Spend the rest of your time on other hobbies or hanging out with friends to distract yourself from thinking about the games.

I think the trick behind it is making every player start off as a free to play that is basically an in game peasant in terms of abilities/qualities, and then decorate whatever in game additions they are trying to sell you whereby you can go from an in game peasant to an in game god. Humans have a good eye for power and fancy possessions/wealth.

I would think some game makers invest more in abusing human psychology than actually making game content

You do it for the clout in order to feel superior to other players.

I've been tempted to do it myself but it's just falling for their tricks, pretty smart tho imo.

no normal person sits down and ploughs hundreds of pounds into some internet game. i like gta online but i didnt sit down with my debit card earlier buying content willy nilly like its nothing. ur addicted to gambling and or gaming

when u play games and complete things it gives u hit of dopamine it feels good, but that dopamine is highly addictive. whats more ur using that as an escapism ur running away from problemst. no wonder ppl get addicted to porn, gambling, video games, netlix. the act of doing feels good and u want that high again the fix + it is a great escapism helps me run away from pain and problems

I understand uninstalling it deletes everything you have paid for in the past, but keeping it on your phone just tempts you to spend more and more?

I am sorry that you are having problems with your boyfriend - it is something that you can work through? Do you have friends or family who can support you and who you can lean on? In terms of benzos, have you asked your doctor's advice?

ur in denial doesnt matter what they do for a living. the average user doesnt plough hundreds of pounds into it
addiction starts with sadness and ends with sadness. if u werent addicted u could be able to stop now and never come back to it. but u cant do that ur addicted

His... Yeah, things have only gotten worse, though. Like, I can go many weeks without spending, but then I will binge and spend a couple hundred pounds at once. Idk. It might be. I do tend to binge-buy when I'm stressed/upset. Recently I've had a bad fight with my boyfriend, also been trying to quit benzos, so I just feel like a mess.

What about Zelda Breath of the Wild? Not too overwhelming, single player anddont have to spend money ?

Not really. Most people I play with are pretty damn normal. Some are doctors, some are CEOs, bankers, some are students. People from all walks of life play these games.

I do agree with your second point, though. It does feel nice, for like the first few hours, then you just feel bad about it.

Haha they do. I've resisted the urge to pay so far but I get why people do it. Good fun in any case, and surprisingly social.
