What's that one lyric (or set of lyrics) that stick out to you. List them below! Don't forget to include the song name and artist/band so people can look them up

Here's a couple of mine:

"I've been mad for ****ing years, absolutely years,
Been over the edge for yonks,
Been working me buns off for bands

I've always been mad, I know I've been mad,
Like the most of us, very hard to explain why you're mad,
Even if you're not mad"
Speak to me (Pink Floyd)

"Just what is it that you want to do?
Well, we wanna be free, we wanna be free to do what we wanna do
And we wanna get loaded and we wanna have a good time
And that's what we're gonna do (away baby, let's go)
We're gonna have a good time, we're gonna have a party"
Loaded (Primal Scream)

"Springtime for Hitler and Germany!!!!!"
Can’t really point to a favourite lyric there’s too many.
Elton John, or Bernie Taupin rather, obviously.
Pulp and Blur never fail to write good lyrics, except from Song 2 by Blur cause that makes no sense.
Yungblud also has good lyrics.
Jeez lol I could go on for ever...
Also pretty much the whole of Vienna by Billy Joel that song is gold.

'Are you in time or are you ready to die?
Do you feel worthless, useless kicked aside?
Or are you burning in the blackened sky,
Acetone peroxide, bleached white?
When you stand up do you wanna explode,
Do you feel like a dead star about to implode?
Do you want to ruin everythin'?
Cause not matter how you try you can never win'

Yea it is, but let’s be honest we have no idea what the lyrics are about.
"People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down"

People Are Strange - The Doors

Kind of spoke to me, the world can seem like an entirely different place when you're struggling.

"Fighting it is hopeless, sinking in your ocean just like He designed me to do, Fall into your blue". Blu by Jon bellion.

"Do I need it, mocha
Am i under control,
Can i beat it, wake up
If it swallowed me whole,
woukd i feel it, I can make you feel alive, I know but do i need you to survive" Jack bauer 'coffee'

"Whoever said money can't solve your problems
Must not have had enough money to solve 'em
They say, "Which one?" I say, "Nah, I want all of 'em"
Happiness is the same price as red-bottoms"
Ariana Grande - 7 rings

"She says, "Do you love me?" I tell her, "Only partly", I only love my bed and my momma, I'm sorry" - Drake, 'God's Plan'

"'Excuse me, um, I love you,' I know that's not the way to start a conversation, trouble" - Ariana Grande, 'R.E.M.'

"When all is said and done, you'll believe God is a woman." - Ariana Grande, 'God is a woman'

"Some days, things just take way too much of my energy, I look up and the whole room's spinning" - Ariana Grande, 'breathin'

When we all fall asleep, where do we go? - Billie Eilish

Tell me which one is worse
Living or dying first
Billie Eilish - You should see me in a crown

Take me to the rooftop
I wanna see the world when I stop breathing, turning blue
Tell me love is endless, don't be so pretentious
Leave me like you do
Taste me, these salty tears on my cheeks
---------------------------------------------------------
That's what a year-long headache does to you
I'm not okay, I feel so scattered
Don't say I'm all that matters
Leave me, déjà vu
------------------------------------------------------------
Call my friends and tell them that I love them
And I'll miss them
But I'm not sorry
Call my friends and tell them that I love them
And I'll miss them
Sorry
Billie Eilish - Listen before I go
That's a tough one. I don't focus too much on the lyrics when listening to music, but here are some songs I like a lot with interesting lyrics. Give them a listen if you don't know them.

Ramble On - Led Zeppelin

All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix

Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits

Kashmir - Led Zeppelin

I wonder whether my perception of "interesting lyrics" is distorted by the fact I don't listen to much new pop music, where there's an awful lot of "throw your hands up in the air" and "give me your love, love, love"...
For the past few weeks I've been in love with the lines:

"If your eyes are on the storm
You'll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You know I always have and I always will"

From "Just Be Held" by Casting Crowns. I rewind that part constantly. There's a lot of truth in it - even if you are to take out the religious connotations and apply it to a friendship or a relationship instead.
Sister Josephine - Jake Thackray

Oh, Sister Josephine
What do all these policemen mean
By coming to the convent in a grim limousine
After Sister Josephine?
While you, Sister Josephine
You sit with your boots up on the altar screen
You smoke one last cigar
What a funny nun you are!

The policemen say that Josephine's a burglar in disguise
Big bad Norman - fifteen years on the run
The sisters disbelieve it: No, that can't be Josephine;
Just think about her tenderness towards the younger nuns

Oh, Sister Josephine
They're searching the chapel where you've been seen
The nooks and the crannies of the nun's canteen
After Sister Josephine
While you, Sister Josephine
You sip one farewell Benedictine
Before your au revoir
A right funny nun you are!

Admittedly her hands are big and hairy
And embellished with a curious tattoo
Admittedly her voice is on the deep side
And she seems to shave more often than the other sisters do

Oh, Sister Josephine
Founder of the convent pontoon team
They're looking through your bundles of rare magazines
After Sister Josephine
While you, Sister Josephine
You give a goodbye sniff of benzedrine
To the convent budgerigar
A bloody funny nun you are!

No longer will her snores ring through the chapel during prayers
Nor her lustful moanings fill the steely night
No more empty bottles of altar wine come clunking from her cell
No longer will the cloister toilet seat stand upright

Oh, Sister Josephine
Slipping through their fingers like Vaseline
Leaving them to clutch your empty crinoline
After Sister Josephine
While you, Sister Josephine
Sprinting through the suburbs when last seen
Dressed only in your wimple and your rosary
A right funny nun you seem to be!

I'm sorry if I've caused you any pain
But please believe me when I try to say
I feel like I am going insane- oh it'll be better off for you this way

(Pond- Holding Out For You)
I really ought to be quoting ABBA but the following is hands down my favourite lyric:

"Act your age, Mama, not your shoe size
Maybe we can do the twirl!"

Prince, 'Kiss'.

Another one that cracks me up is:
"You say I must eat so many lemons, 'coz I am so bitter
I said, 'I'd rather be with your friends, mate, coz they are much fitter'"
Kate Nash, 'Foundations'

Can't remember if those are the 100% exact lyrics, but something to that effect

onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Pink Floyd

"Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way"
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her

Spoiler

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
