In Hospital AMA

Hi!

I’m currently in hospital and awaiting surgery tomorrow on my esophagus, I thought this would be a good time to do an AMA.

i guess you can't have it if it's for your esophagus though.

Hospital food differs from patients to staff. We’re not allowed to have patients food(leftovers as such) but I can tell from some of my patients faces that they really don’t like the food they have ordered, or that they’re fussy. At most times is a mixture of both.

I'm at a specialist children's hospital so the food is pretty good, to be honest, there's a decent selection of food and if you're on a 'special' diet like I will be after surgery then they happily accommodate so soft foods, gluten-free, dairy-free, and so much more. Though I do prefer home food! lol

I have a tracheoesophageal fistula that was diagnosed in February this year, it causes me to choke on food and water with every meal so it needs to be repaired to reduce the chance of getting infections and lung damage.
