University course for joining the Police

Hi I need some help. I'm currently in my first year of college and I really want to be in the police force. I'm really passionate about the drug problem in the UK and my main aim is to be in the police force and stop drugs from entering the country on a large scale. For example in a month back the police managed to stop a huge haul of cocaine entering the country. I'm studying Psychology, Chemistry and History (yes its a mixture 🤣). I want to study criminology at A level but im wondering if there are any specific courses that have parts that talk about organised crime and other things like that. And also whether a degree in criminology will be enough for me to enter into the police force?
Thanks
You dont need to do A level Crim or a degree in Crim to join the Police.
See https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/job-profiles/police-officer

If you want to do a degree in this area
Professional Policing : https://www.ntu.ac.uk/course/criminology-policing?
Addiction Studies : https://www.uwl.ac.uk/course/undergraduate/psychology-addiction-studies
Youth Studies with Criminology : https://www.uwl.ac.uk/course/undergraduate/youth-studies-and-youth-justice
you should do sociology a level. i think its a very useful subject for any member of authority to have been taught...

I would consider doing Sociology at uni instead as it does have crime modules but is broader than Criminology.
You could do a degree in Policing but what if you change your mind or struggle to get into the police service for other reasons? A relevant degree is no guarantee of success so I would try to keep your options open at this stage

Yeh I don't want to narrow my options down to just the police force. Thanks for the help I'll look into sociology courses. Any ideas on any good courses around the country or have you not got q clue 🤣

Well it depends on factors like which part of the country you prefer to be in, do you like city life or prefer to be somewhere smaller, what are your predicted grades likely to be, stuff like that?

I would also agree Sociology is a great degree to do which leads to the police force, without being a direct route so that you can have a broader field of knowledge you could apply to different careers if you changed your mind/wanted a career change later on in life. One of my friends studies Criminology with Forensics, and she is wanting to be in the police when she is older. Anything along these lines would be helpful to understand the why when it comes to criminals.
