Advice for a teen

I am 17, I am currently trying out dropshipping although, so far I have failed. I am not sure why but I'm worrying because I want to be financially free even though I'm still young. Is there any advice someone could give me? I am looking to travel the world whilst making money instead of going to uni in my late teens/early 20s.

It's hard to give advice as we don't know how/why it's currently failing.

It's important to know/remember there isn't an overnight get rich quick, get rid of worries etc. Especially at 17 it's important to realise that whilst there are ways to increase income, to want to travel the word financially free is a big ask.

That being said, look at careers, look at the long term. What careers can you get into that will allow you to to save whilst you earn that maybe you can take a holiday, or some time off.

unfortunately man, if people knew how to be financially free and could fly around the world as their life - I think they'd already be doing so rather than be dishing out the know how on TSR.

I would put your heart and soul into your studies and aim for a place at University to read Civil Engineering.

I know a few people who are Civil Engineers. One of them does a lot of travel abroad for his company and has been the Civil Engineer in charge of projects in places like Dubai and New York.

Having said that, if you don't feel that going to University at this stage is for you, you might find something which appeals to you in the Navy, especially with your Engineering skills. You could join in the next couple of years and complete a degree through the Navy later on.

My name is Anna and I study civil engineering and I am currently in my placement year (3rd year) at Surrey
If you work with an international company, then hopefully you may get the chance to move offices to other countries as well as work on projects based around the world. It's also something that I am really interested in pursuing as well :smile:

Would you prefer being based on site or in the office? The company I'm doing my placement is consulting based so in the office mainly (because of the pandemic I am working from home) but there are opportunities to go on site occasionally.

Enjoy yourself, when you turn 18 you can go pub and stuff. Also I'd recommend learning to drive since you are 17 because it's a handy skill.
